Bob is a member of both the Real Estate and Construction practice group and the Creditors’ Rights practice group. Bob’s Real Estate practice concentrates in all aspects of real estate, including finance, sales and acquisitions, leasing, and zoning and land use involving all types of properties, including residential, industrial, office space, mixed use and retail.

As part of his Creditors’ Rights practice, he represents banks and other lenders in workouts, restructurings and other transactions intended to address issues with defaulting borrowers, and has extensive experience providing counsel to court-appointed receivers.

Prior to joining the firm, Bob served as corporate counsel in the real estate department for Menard, Inc. and was responsible for all aspects of new store and shopping center real estate development for the company.

Bob Assists Clients With

  • Negotiating and documenting the financing, acquisition and sale of real estate, as well as other property related agreements, including development agreements, operating and easement agreements, in addition to commercial, industrial and office leases on behalf of landlords and tenants
  • Managing due diligence reviews
  • Counseling clients on development strategy and political procedures in connection with zoning and land use approvals and other related governmental approvals
  • Providing practical advice to lenders and other financial institutions on all aspects of structuring, documenting and enforcing secured transactions

Examples of Bob’s Recent Client Work

  • Negotiated and successfully closed on the purchase and financing of a $5,000,000 multi-tenant office/warehouse facility
  • Represented a company in the connection with $7,000,000 sale-leaseback of its multi-tenant warehouse property
  • Represented a property owner in the $6,000,000 sale of its industrial property to a real estate investment trust
  • Represented landlord in lease negotiations with Starbucks, a local credit union, and various retail tenants for a three building, 20,000 square foot retail development
  • Served as lead counsel for a real estate investment group in its multi-state acquisitions, leasing, financings and sales of office buildings, shopping centers and other commercial properties
  • Represented a local lender in connection with ground lease construction loan financing of a $3,000,000 residential care facility
  • Represented a regional financial institution in connection with acquisition and construction loan financing for a retail center
  • Advised the court-appointed receiver with aspects of the sale of the assets of real estate brokerage and development company
  • Provided counsel to the court-appointed receiver in connection with the operational, management, and leasing issue for a 20-story office tower
