Randy Nash of O’Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong & Laing S.C., was retained by Judge Angela Sutkiewicz of Sheboygan County relating to her judicial election. On election night, Judge Sutkiewicz was ahead of her opponent by 128 votes out of over 30,000 cast in Sheboygan County. Following the canvas of the votes, her lead had grown to 130 votes, but this was still within one-half of one percent of the total votes cast. As a result, her opponent sought a recount. The recount progressed over approximately 10 days and was completed on Saturday, April 23, 2011. Judge Sutkiewicz’s lead had increased to 139 votes out of 30,263 cast. Judge Sutkiewicz will now serve a six-year term beginning August 1, 2011.
At the beginning of this recount, there literally were four recounts going on simultaneously; two aldermanic districts within the City of Sheboygan, a multi-jurisdictional municipal judge, as well as the county-wide Circuit Court Judge race.
Judge Sutkiewicz had been appointed to the Sheboygan County Circuit Court in 2010 to replace a retiring judge. This was her first race for Circuit Court Judge.
Randy Nash has been involved in many recounts for elected positions throughout Wisconsin.
