Cate M. Heerey

Cate is a member of the firm’s Business Law Practice Group. Cate’s primary focus is mergers and acquisitions, representing clients in the lower end of the middle market. In addition to her M&A practice, she regularly advises clients on general corporate matters. Cate specializes in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts, including, purchase agreements, supply and distributions agreements, master service agreements and terms and conditions. Cate assists clients with each phase of their business – from formation, capitalization and financing, to succession planning and exit strategies. Cate’s passion for her clients translates into a pleasant working relationship that results in clients achieving their goals.

Cate is a graduate of Marquette University Law School, where, in addition to her Juris Doctor, she obtained her Masters of Business Administration, which has been an asset to her practice and clients.

Cate Assists Clients With

  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Corporate matters, including business entity selection and formation, shareholder agreements, and operating agreements
  • General business issues, including complex contract negotiation and preparation

Experience/Representative Client Work

  • Represented numerous clients in the purchase and sale of businesses, including in the manufacturing, transportation, insurance, distribution, retail, healthcare, and business services industries
  • Drafted, negotiated, and finalized numerous business agreements on a variety of transactions, including terms and conditions, independent contractor agreements, non-compete agreements, non-disclosure agreements, distribution agreements, and supply agreements.
  • Represented numerous clients on the formation of their businesses and the preparation of their organizational documents, including operating and shareholder agreements.
