Litigation Legal Assistant

O’Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong and Laing S.C., a mid-sized Milwaukee law firm, is expanding. We are seeking a talented and professional Legal Assistant with three or more years of Wisconsin legal experience, preferably in litigation but will consider longevity in other practice areas. Must be highly organized and work well with minimal supervision and can happily support a litigation team of two to three attorneys. Great, congenial communication and an awesome rapport with clients, judicial staff, subordinates, opposing counsel, and coworkers are key to succeeding in this position. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a dependable work ethic and proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Worldox, NetDocuments, other law firm document management systems, and Adobe Pro.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare correspondence, basic pleadings, and court filings
  • Maintain and track case status
  • Assist with preparation for hearings, meetings, and trial
  • Maintain paper and electronic files
  • Fill in for receptionist and other legal assistants when needed
  • Arrange for travel and phone conferences

Minimal Qualifications:

  • At least three years of Wisconsin law firm experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of civil procedure and general law firm procedures and protocols
  • Microsoft Office programs, document management programs, and Adobe Pro
  • E-filing and E-service experience
  • Ability to effectively multi-task
